Singapore, 25 April 2024 - Iron Mountain Data Centers was recognised at the SBR International Business Awards 2024 for its implementation of an AI-powered digital twin solution designed to improve cooling efficiency and energy performance across its data centre operations.
The award highlights the successful deployment of Red Dot Analytics’ (RDA) DCVerse AI-Powered Cognitive Digital Twin platform at SIN-1, one of Iron Mountain Data Centers’ flagship facilities in Singapore.
Implemented in 2023, the solution combines real-time operational data, predictive analytics, and advanced physics-informed machine learning algorithms to optimise cooling system performance through intelligent control policy recommendations. The platform continuously analyses operational conditions and provides recommendations across parameters such as chilled water temperature, flow rate, fan speed, and temperature setpoints to improve cooling efficiency whilst balancing energy consumption requirements.
Within three weeks of deployment, the solution demonstrated measurable operational improvements across both the chiller plant and computer room air conditioning (CRAC) systems. As of September 2023, SIN-1 recorded a 3.5% improvement in Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).
According to the published report, the optimisation translated into an estimated average reduction in energy usage of 204,600 kWh per month, equivalent to approximately S$71,610 in monthly energy cost savings.
The project also reinforces broader sustainability ambitions within the data centre industry. Iron Mountain Data Centers has committed to achieving climate neutrality across its data centre operations by 2030 and aims to operate on 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2040. SIN-1 has also been awarded the BCA Green Mark Platinum certification.
